Rachael Ray is having a special on making dog food on the Food Network coming up very soon. Look it up in your TV guide. She also has recipes on her website and there are other websites with her name associated with dog food. Just Yahoo Rachael Ray dog food. You should get loads of info.

There are many recipes scattered through the Internet on making home made dog food and treats. Here is one easy recipe for treats:
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
2 cups wheat flour
1 tsp. beef bouillon granules
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped meat (leftover hot dog, chicken, etc. — but avoid too much fat or spice)
Mix all ingredients together, adding just enough water to make a heavy dough. Dough will be sticky; dip spoon in glass of water, then in dough, placing small mounds 1″ apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in 400-degree oven until light brown. Turn off heat and let sit in oven to dry; this makes a crunchy treat. Double recipe if you like; dogs love them.
Please be very careful if you choose to make up your own recipes. Some ingredients can be harmful if not fatal to dogs, such as grapes and raisins. I have a few more harmful ingredients on my blog at
