I’m looking for free online dog treat recipes that can keep on the shelf for a decent amount of time. I have tons of dog treat recipes for dog treats but they all need to be refrigerated! help please.

I have a dog that loves dingo dog treats. I own 3 dogs and foster another 1-3 at the same time, so treats can become quite expensive. I’ve looked online and I’ve found some places that are cheaper than going to Wal-Mart, but after paying for the shipping adds up to being more. I’ve tried giving him generic dingos and he always knows the difference, when I come up the generic dingo is untouched. Does anyone know of a cheaper place to buy dingo dog treats? If you don’t, please don’t answer I don’t want a page of NO answers, I’m really looking for an answer to this. I only give the dogs treats if they will be alone for more than 4 hours, so they don’t get treats daily, but still it adds up. Thanks!
My dog does like them and I would never put bacon grease or any grease on something I was going to feed my dogs. The question is, does anyone know where to get them at a cheaper price?
Thanks for the answers, I think making my own is not an option, my husky is usually the smallest at about 40 lbs. I would have to cook for days to make treats for them all. I do sometimes foster a smaller dog, but generally do not as they scare my male german shepherd. For some reason a small dog gives him the heebies and at 103 lbs it’s tough getting him out from under something when a 5 lb dogs backs him in a corner, or the bathroom.

I was thinking of making some treats for my friends dog, but it has wheat allergies. I was hoping to find a substitute for wheat germ and cream of wheat (common ingredients in dog treat recipes).

so I just found out which appropriate dog food I should be feeding my pup, that’s healthy. But now that I know which ingredient to feed the dog such as grains, non detailed meat, DHA, i’m now wondering which dog treats, that are reccomended by people. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — North Bergen, NJ — March 23, 2007 — Petrapport, Inc. is voluntarily recalling pig ear dog treats it imported from a Chilean company during the period August 2006 through December 2006 because the pig ears have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious infections in dogs, and, if there is cross contamination, young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Laboratory testing has confirmed that samples of Full-Cut Pig Ears dog treats sold by BJ’s Wholesale Club in 25-count packages under the “Berkley & Jensen” brand with no lot number and only the expiration advisory “BEST IF USED BY 2009″ (without referencing a specific month) were contaminated with Salmonella. Additional testing of other pig ear dog treats from shipments during the above time period has not revealed any additional evidence of Salmonella contamination, but Petrapport nonetheless is voluntarily recalling them out of an abundance of caution due to concern that the pig ears imported during this period may not have been effectively irradiated for Salmonella before shipment from Chile.

I have oats and iteams like that and i want to make dog treats but cannot find recipes with out iteams that reg people would have at home.

I’ve enrolled my dog (6 year old mixed breed) in training classes at Petsmart. I need to know which treats to bring though. They just told us to bring treats, but didn’t give any recomendations. He likes soft treats, but I’m looking for something extra special that he will want to work for. They have to be small so he can eat them quickly too. Any suggestions?

i just bought a kong toy for my dog and i seen it on the television and i seen it in the shops and it said worlds best toy and at home i have a staffordshire bull terrier and i just dont know what do put in i bought him small treats for it but they all fell out ha!

i buy dog treats in the tin foil type of packages. i open the treats and they are very moist and fresh smelling. i give my dogs a couple of treats a day, but after a few days i open the treats they become hard and don’t smell fresh. i try to put them in the fridge, but that doesn’t seem to help. anyone have any suggestions?

My dog has seizures and chicken or beef is not recommend.
Anything with fruits or vegetables, lamb or turkey are fine. Natural dog treats are just too expensive to buy all the time.

I don’t mean the people who just work in the factory where they make the food. I’m talking about the research and development people who invent dog foods and treats. I mean, SOMEONE had to invent Kibbles & Bits, or Purina Dog Chow, or Science Diet. Do they taste their creations as part of the process?

1 week ago I bought these liver dog treats that I’m supposed to break into smaller pieces as a reward when training my pup.

Unfortunately, they dried out already and aren’t working too well because there isn’t much of a smell in a dry piece of treat.

Why are there dog/cat treats that can only be given to pets a few times a day? Are they fattening? I was looking at some of the ingredients of a premium pet food and I was thinking: If pets love their food so much (assuming they do), couldn’t you just give them a grain of dog/cat food instead of a dog treat as a reward? Both have meat-like stuff in it, both satisfy the pet, and isn’t the pet food better for them?

Is there some specific component in dog/cat treats that make them so much more appealing than pet food AND makes them so bad for them that they can only be given treats a few times a day?

what is the weight-treat consumption ratio for dog treats
(example - a 50lb dog eats 5 lbs of treats per month) that isn’t actually correct, i don’t know what it is, that’s why i’m asking.

Home Made Dog Treats?

Can anyone tell me what is required to sell home made dog treats in the State of NJ? I have called the USDA, they referred me to the County Health Dept, they referred me to NJ Dept of Agriculture, and I haven’t heard back from NJDofA. Anyone? The treats will be made from regular ingredients found in any kitchen and will be made at my house. I am only going to sell at Craft Fairs and Dog Shows in the area. Also, if anyone knows anything about Craft Fairs/Dog Shows, what documents will they ask me for to set up a table? At this point, I don’t have an EIN, and not sure I would need one. Any help from anyone who is familiar with this would be most appreciated…

My sister got us a box of dog treats for Christmas and even my most finicky dog loves them. With these treats he actually goes around to the other dogs to see if they have finished their treats. For the last year I have been making dog treats for my dogs and i would like to start my own buisness doing so. I live in a small community but there are alot of dogs. Please tell me what you think!

I am going to be producing dog treats with 2 of my friends. Would you rather buy a package of dog treats (small ones, but lots of them) or buy individual dog treats (much bigger but only comes with one) OR We could sell both. Please tell me what you think I should do.

Since I eat only fruits a veggies, and white breast chicken meat rice and a couple pastas, my dog eats what I eat, but, I do keep dog treats for her. However, I have have eaten a few of them, and to tell you the truth they are pretty good. But, my question, which ones are safe for humans? Both Gracie and I eat pupperoni, Milkbones, Beggin Strips, Doggey Jerky, and Rawhide bones(Not the flakey ones) but, what ones do you not suggest for both of us?
Gracie is a 5 month old Shih Tzu, she and I get two miles of walking every day(One mile in the morning and one at sunset) and she has her vet’s approval that she’s a very, very healthy dog.

I want to sell homade dog treats at a local farmer’s market and want to ensure buyers of a proper shelf life. What can I do to make sure the treats don’t spoil? Some of the treats have fruits and veggies in them.

My dog has food alergies and is on a strict diet. Her food is made only of venison and potato. She can only have her food and water for atleast the next 6 weeks. There are no treats to go along with the diet (the company doesn’t make them). I think it is cruel and unusual to not give a dog ANY treats so I am looking for a recipe for her. It is ASPCA Day on April 10th and I am hoping to be able to make dog treats and bring them to my local humane society. I was wondering (since ASPCA is ALL orange) can I use some orange food coloring (human) on the dog treats I plan to make? Or is there a natural way I can get such as carrots. How can I do that if I need to do natural?
