Dog Toy Ideas?
11 Dec 2008
I need some insprations for homemade dog toys. I have an English bull Terrier and he likes to chew thing which have bright colours. Yesterday i made him a sock ring. I tied lots of socks up in a circle ad let it chase it and bite it. He can’t have any small balls or toys cause he will just swallow them. He’s not interested in bog balls eiter as he can’t get his teeth around them. Do you have any ideas?
Forgot to mension he’s just a pup.

BEST TOY EVER!! has to be ice cubes. It’s so easy and especially great for those teething puppies.
Also when making toys think of the materials you’re using too. Old towels are thick and tough so they make good toys aswell.
GOOD LUCK

Hi,
Socks make great toys and my 4 year old spaniel still loves to play with them! (=
My dog likes it if i put a tennis ball in an old sock and tie the top….maybe he would like this as it is different to just a ball? Also, putting something hard in the sock can make it more interesting as it is easier for them to chew. My dog likes it if I put a few dog treats in a sock and tie the top. [However, this is usually only a short game as she rips the sock up to get at the food ].
Hope this helps,
Gx

Hi! There is a Kong for extra strong jaws - I think it’s black and it’s virtually indestructable. It is narrower at one end so he can get his mouth around it and they come in different colours.
Other ideas - ice cubes as someone already said, big raw bones, raw hide chewie toys, knotted dog toy ropes.

A really good toy is to get a washcloth or towel and soak it in water, then twist it up and freeze it. Extremely cheap, durable and reusable.
They also have Kongs made specially for aggressive chewers.

My giant breed pup had peices of thick natural (not nylon) rope knotted at each end which I would soak in water with a little marmite disolved in it and then frozen. They are reuseable and because they don’t take up heaps of the liquid there is not too much mess. Great for my teething pup, I even put them in the washer(without detergant) when they got too yuk
