I have this toy that my big guy here loves but I have no idea what it’s called….it’s sort of like a hard rubber tire that’s attached to a strong tennis ball…my dog loves this thing and it’s lasted pretty long…I’m going to try to find a picture of it…

Ok…it kind of looks like this but with a really hard tennis ball at the end… ( )

The more expensive dog ropes and pulls are pretty good
but I would have to saw the kongs are the best and we leave it foodless a lot.
dont get things that squeek because they seem to HAVE to get the squeeker out!

I try to stay away from anything stuffed. My dogs will destroy it in seconds. But I have found that the 99 cent rubber squeaky balls at petsmart are a hit. They aren’t indestructible by any means but for some reason they don’t tear them up. You just have to learn to ignore the squeaking all the time.

Kongs are the only things my lab hasn’t managed to tear up. He had a frisbee from Petsmart that lasted a few months. It was the small size pink and green one. They also have a large rope that he had that lasted 3 months or so. I just had to throw it away yesterday. I’ve bought everything, including some “Builder Grade” dog toys. I bought those thinking they would last…..pffft…they lasted 15 minutes. Anything that is stuffed is a no go for him. He rips the seam apart within 10 minutes. I’m with everyone else. If you find an indestructible toys, let me know!

Two recommendations that are practically undestructable:

    1. Lacrosse balls. Very hard, you can throw them (and play fetch), bounce them off brick walls or dry ground or asphalt, use as a chew toy. And if you walk by a lacrosse field after a practice you can usually get 2-3 of them for free!

    2. Rope toys. Just go to Home Depot and buy some thick rope and then tie knots in it. Play tug, drag it on the floor wiggling it like some kind of animal, loop it over a tree limb and let your dog jump at it.

Also, eventually it gets destroyed and it also varies with the dog but my guy goes bonkers over a soccer ball. He’ll chase it, juggle it with his nose, dribble it on the ground, try to carry it in his mouth–it’s his alltime favorite toy.

My GSD is a the terror of the toy world, destroying anything that comes in contact with his nose in less than a minute. He likes Kongs, but the Kong treat ball only lasts about 15 min and he had it in pieces. We did find another Kong type ball that squeaks. It’s at most pet stores around here (can’t remember the brand), but it has feet and comes in green or red. We think the squeaking lets him know he’s biting hard so he doesn’t chew it up (though he does chew it). I bought it for him 2 months ago and it’s still his favorite toy.

Prior to finding this and accepting the fact that it too was gong to soon be in pieces, he has chewed up a tennis ball, a large size tennis ball, a baseball, softball, 2 kong treat balls, a kong hard rubber ball, countless types and thicknesses of ropes. I use his squeaky ball for training and he LOVES it. He has one for normal play and a special one for training.

Link attached. He doesn’t have this particular one, but it’s the same company. The feet may be gone in a few chews since they don’t squeak, but the ball itself is really good and is cheaper than the kongs he was chewing up.

Let me know what you think.
