What Dog Toy Can’t Be Destroyed?

dog toy

Hello,
I have the sweetest 9 month old Rottweiler. My only comlpaint about him is that any toy he is given is destroyed within an hour. He’s gone through many stuffed animals human and doggy (with supervision of course). He is able to shred rope toys. He had a red Kong and cracked the rubber in half, and he cant fit his mouth on the stronger black kong. Anyone know of a great indestructable dog toy? He is crate trained and is in his crate for about 4 hours a day and I can’t leave him with any toys because I am too scared about what he will ingest well I am gone.
At least its not the furniture!
Thanks,
Any ideas are greatly appreciated :)

ask your vet or go to the petstore where they have people with the knowledge. they could assist you better with this problem.

They make toys that look like little tires (you can get them at Petco and Petsmart) that are made out of a similar material as the black kongs. You can also try the Nylabone durables (not the totally eatable ones, the ones made for chewing). They are like a really tough plastic bone that is impregnated with meat flavor.

    pig’s ear
it’ll take him a while to finish
it is a good dog treat
and you don’t have to worry about him eating it because it’s a bone

a whole bag of bigs ear’s ar about 1-3 dollars

Kong toys are specifically made for heavy chewers. Can you get a smaller size of the black kong? The regular size one works really well for my dog and he eats everything. They also make real animal bones that have been hollowed out and boiled. My dog can’t chew those up either. The thick Nylabone rubber bones work really well and Petsmart sells toys that look like tires and are also made out of that hard rubber.

i would possibally get him some toys that deposit treats out of them so he is more concerned with getting the treats out and not so concerned with actually destroying the toy…..i would also get the black kong for him…even if he can’t chew it up it will keep him busy trying and that way he still has something to do……..good luck with him I love rotties!!!!

I agree 100% with Planet Dog toys. They are rated by a chew o meter. The higher the number on the chew o meter the tougher it is. I have 2 90 pound Goldens who have had thier Plante dog toys forever and they are still in good shape.

They have a web site. PlanetDog.com
Their a small company out of Portland, ME I was at their store and they are nicest people.

My Uncle had a dog that murdered every single toy in mere seconds–then begged for more—–he loved doing it——He bought some GREAT toys from petdepot.com
they actually categorize them according to the destructibility and some of these were NEVER destroyed—-and the dog loved them.

By my 100 lb lab mix, so far nothing has survived! LOL! But, I try to get lots of digestible raw hide chewies to help with this (not the cheap raw hides).

Also, I get most of my dog toys from a “dollar” store, so at least the ones that get destroyed are cheap.

Some toys, such as nylabones, are made to be eaten, and are thus safe to occupy your pup. If he can break a kong, I’d stick with the safe digestion toys. Try dogtoys.com

I have 2 GSD (1 black and 1 white) and the ONLY thing that have not damged is the Kongs. They last for years.
Anything else (fence, soda cans, $90 baseball glove, shoes, even rocks they destroy.

Could it be you just had bad luck with that one Kong?

I use a Deer antler for my dogs.
The Vet told us that they were excellent for cleaning there teeth and are full of calcium.
We have a white German Shephard and a Black Lab and one medium size antler will last them about a year or more.

I have had a pitbull for 3 years now and trust me I know exactly what you are going through! I used to get her every toy I could find in hopes of finding one to last more than a few hours and finally found it just a few months ago. It was at a local pet store (but I’m sure you can find it at any pet store). It is a rawhide bone with some kind of substance inside that dogs love. They come in different sizes and the medium one works great for my dog - its about a foot long and 2 -3 inches in diameter. I one time bought something similar but it wasn’t the same… she ate it in mins. This one she has been chewing on since christmas and still loves it! It is also great for puppies… we bought the small one for our beagle pup and he loves it too.

My 45 pound nova scotia duck tolling retriever has destroyed the biggest black kong toys. Bike tires tend to last her a little longer. For 4 hours your dog can handle not having toys. Its better to let the dog go without toys when you can’t supervise them, heavy chewers can get pieces off toys and choke on them.

Kong Extreme Black makes a bone-shaped toy in addition to the traditional ‘beehive’ shaped toy. We have one for my boyfriends dog because he destroys everything, but so far he hasn’t gotten through that one.

You can also give him a basketball or something to roll around, he shouldn’t be able to pop those.

Also, buy the large treated marrow bones. They are white, hollow, and come in various sizes. It’s very difficult to even chip a tiny piece off, let alone crack it in half. You can also buy them with a soft filling they can lick out.

Kong makes mini tires that are great for puppys. I have a pit bull mastiff mix, and she hasnt even tore it yet.

Makes a long lasting toy…I guess Ive had it for over a year now.

    Its worth the price.
