Dog Questions

I heard about a dog doy where the dog rolls around a ball and then the ball excretes a recorded message from the owners. I think this is a great idea for dogs when there owners are out running errands. It would distract them from tearing things up in the house. Do you know where I could find one of these toys?

It is shaped like a genie bottle and comes in a few different sizes. The ones I have seen have been light pastel colors. There is a hole in the top and the size for treats and the person I spoke to about it says it is a similar concept to a kong but harder for the dog to solve. I saw this at two premium pet stores in Ohio (on a trip) but can’t remember the name of the toy or the stores. If anyone knows what I am talking about please give me the name of the toy so I can try to find it online! Thanks!!

100% sure it wasn’t a kong. The larger size is about 3 times bigger than a kong.
Not tug-a-jug either. She had one of those byt destroyed hers a few weeks ago! It literally looks like a genie bottle with like little pictures of genies and egypt symbols on the side. Thanks for all the ideas tho! I have some great new toys to look into in case I can never figure this out!

I recently purchased ‘Tuffies’ chew toys for my dog and immediately saw that it was made in China. A friend recommended ‘Tuffies’ for their long-lasting durability. Now I’m not so sure if I should keep having my dog play with it, especially after I read that some dog toys are contaminated from Chinese lead-poisoning. Anyone know if ‘Tuffies’ are safe for man’s best friend? And man, if I were Chinese I’d be so angry about my current status!

My dog’s favorite toy in the world is a figure-eight rope tuggy with a mini basketball strung on the rope at one end (or some other kind–they’re all the same toy with different colors and decoration). She loves them. Unfortunately, they have the nasty habit of getting stuck in trees. We used to buy them at Meijer, the midwestern grocery chain, but I haven’t seen any the last few times I went.

I’ve visited two different locations, two other pet stores, and Meijer’s website, but nobody has quite what I’m looking for. Either the ball is soft rubber, which she’ll devour, or the toy is too small for her (she’s on the small side of medium, 23 pounds and sixteen inches tall at the shoulder), or the toy is just a ball on a rope with a handle at one end, or the figure-eight rope tuggy doesn’t have a ball.

All I’m looking for is a figure-eight tugger toy that has what’s pretty much a kids’ miniature ball on one side of it. Does anyone know where I could find something like that?

I wanted a MOVING dog toy for my dog because I cant always play with him but he loves playing.

Also is there anywhere I can get a big fat doll that my dog can play with?

My house look like a war zone. Impossible to change room without tripping on a dog toy or bone. I keep his toys in a basket he can reach and he picks what he wants. I am sure this is not the way to do it!

Why are alot of dog toys stuffed? I mean, the dogs rip it all out eventually. Why have it filled?

I have a crazy active dog. She gets lots of exercise, and is in search and rescue training at least twice a week, but she seems to need something to occupy her mind when we are home. I need to find something for her to do for an hr or so that doesn’t need my full on attention. I just can’t spend 12 hrs a day keeping her busy. This may sound way off, but I was wondering whether she might enjoy any toys meant for very young kids, or whether they make puzzle type toys for dogs. She is too smart for her own good, and it would be great if she could be learning while entertaining herself.
She’s a Black Lab/Golden Retriever and about 70lbs, just turned 1 yr last Nov. She also likes to destroy things. She’s a great dog but busy busy busy! Just my luck when I picked the ‘quiet one’.

I bought a Hartz purple monkey dog toy from wal-mart about a year or two ago for my puppy and she absolutely loved it…when u squeeze it, it would make a noise like a screaming monkey and she just went crazy over that toy. But now i can’t find it anywhere, i found a frog one like it that ‘ribbits’ but she’s just not as into it as she was the monkey. thanx for your answers!

I need some insprations for homemade dog toys. I have an English bull Terrier and he likes to chew thing which have bright colours. Yesterday i made him a sock ring. I tied lots of socks up in a circle ad let it chase it and bite it. He can’t have any small balls or toys cause he will just swallow them. He’s not interested in bog balls eiter as he can’t get his teeth around them. Do you have any ideas?

Is there any entertaining dog toys out there so my Chihuahua can be occupied for an hour or so? I have already tried treat balls, rawhide bones, safe marrow bones, kong toys, things that talk, and seem to last for just ten minutes. Any suggestions?

My dog tore up a kong toy about 1 or 2 months ago! i thought they were the toughest dog toy in the US! but i guess they’re not, my dog isnt that tough either, hes a min pin and chihuahua mix. but my mom put a piece of steak in there for him, and he was trying his best for about 8hrs to get the piece of steak out, but he couldnt. then i see him chewing on something, different looking but its still the same kong toy. he chewed a ring around the toy, i have no idea how tho!

Our dog is an australian and half german? (got her from the shelter). She’s extremely hyperactive and does chew through the lesser toys. Loves the kongs, ropes, bones, and this super XL plush jack toy. We keep around 10 or so toys out and play with her several times a day, she’s goes nuts in a large space full of wild vegetation / hideaways, . but alas, not enough! She still tends to have those tear up the flower bed moments! eek and still loves to bark at the neighbors, who look down on part of our property, their voices perhaps become distracting. Toy suggestions please?

Would love to get her a maze she can crawl through or a tetherball stand for dogs? (does this exist), or other unique extremely interactive toys besides the basic ones at your local petsmart.

I am getting a dog and I want to make some home-made dog toys! I can afford a dog it’s just that I want something that will be fun for it to play with and not boring like a silly squeaker things from the shops.

My dog is inlove with a pineapple squeaker toy that we got at a 99cent store. Well he is tearing it up pretty well, and I need to find him a new one. If anyone knows where to get another one I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT IT! He gets sad when he can’t find it and I am worried about what he will do when the day comes that the toy is destroyed and has to be thrown away! PLEASE HELP!

My dog is an avid chewer, even though he is only 20 lbs. He quickly chews up any toy we give him, even durable Nylabones. What is the best durable chewing toy (but fairly inexpensive considering he goes through them so quickly) to give him?

My dog gets toys from us all the time, but the problem is that he can chew it up to much. He likes any toys but it is so hard to find a good toy even when they say tough toys for strong chewers.-He still chews it up!

he is a black lab and a year and a half old!

She’s 5 months old. We already have things like stuffed animals, a tug rope, a sqeaky ball, a squeaky cat shaped ball, a puppy kong, a kong bone, an octapus for tugging, tennis balls, a sanitized bone, another rubber bone tethered with ropes for tug and chewing, and some other miscellaneous stuff.
She used to have this little squeaky lamb toy from the AKC.

lol I came across this cute Petsmart commercial and it was advertising a long sausage dog toy named bobo for dogs(haha). Has anyones dog got this toy?? Judging from the commercial it really looks like dogs love Bobo lol.

my friend’s dog will chew his dog toy until he pulls the squeaker out, and then it’s junk to him.

how long do you think it will take for your dog to Destroy their own toy, or chew bone?

My dog had a “Pea-not” dog toy that he LOVED. He took to doggie day care and lost it. It was a large peanut-shaped chew toy with a rope going through it. I think it was made by Hartz and I bought it at Wal-Mart about 2 years ago. I have checked the Hartz website and Wal-mart to no avail. If anyone knows where I could find this toy, my dog and I would be most appreciative.

A few years ago I saw either on TV or in a magazine this dog toy that looked fantastic, it was basically a long string or cable with a little motor at one point and stakes along the string, you arranged the stakes in any pattern and then a fuzzy lure sped around on the cable driven by the motor at different speeds - it was a really neat toy and I’d love to get one for our dogs but I haven’t been able to find anything like that listed anywhere - does anyone know what I’m talking about?

my puppy is really active at 13 months old. he has a Big Mean Kitty and loves it. unfortunately it only lasted about a month. i need to find a toy for him that is heavy duity, but not huge (he weighs 12 lbs.), extreemly entertaining, and maybe holds a treat? he is, like, ADD. he is kept buisy with a kong for just 20 minutes when theyre supposed to be amusing for hours. we’ve been ran ragged trying to entertain him. i know we should let him be and entertain himself, but we really need a fabulous dog toy for an ADD dog.

My dog has a toy fish and whenever she puts it in her mouth she starts crying and wagging her tail. Is this normal?

Our dog just dropped his favorite rubber toy in the toilet right after someone peed in it, gross I know, can we boil it with soap and water or will it still be germy and nasty? Any other suggestions?

I have a 5 yr old dog and I just got a 10 month old dog. Every time I give them both a toy, the 10 month old steals all the toys. How do I get her to stop stealing toys, treats, etc from the 5 year old? I scold her, but she continues to steal.

I have rescued a couple of dogs, and would like to give them some fun dog toys. I don’t have the budget to spend on $6-$12 toys that they tear apart in 15 minutes! Any suggestions? Empty paper towel rolls? Pine cones? Sticks? Empty egg cartons? I know that if they eat ANY toy it isn’t good for them. But, what common items could I give them and not worry too much about? Thanks!

This dog toy is about 2 years old, it is a skunk and has a noise box inside of it that makes wierd “skunk” noises. Its really wierd, but my mom has one at her house and I have one at mine and no matter what, my dog always seems to find it! I want to get him a new one and I cannot find it anywhere! I think its originally from Shopko.

I have a 10 month old Labrador Retreiver and he is very good at chewing.

Now before I had this dog, I had another Lab and the other dog was a good chewer, but if we gave him a toy like a Boodah Chew, it would take him a few hours to eat it all. But here is the thing, the old dog was a dog who would chew something until it was gone, but this dog will chew his toys in multiple sittings. He will eat Kong Toys with peanut butter in one sitting, but the problem is, this new dog is a genius. He knows how to open the doors of the house, he knows how to unscrew lids. Its rediculous.

So I was wondering if there is a rough dog Chew toy (Doesn’t need to be reusable) that is good to keep a Lab busy and interested.

I want to know because my dog is afraid of squeaky toys and bouncy balls. Please tell me how to get him unafraid of toys.

I have the sweetest 9 month old Rottweiler. My only comlpaint about him is that any toy he is given is destroyed within an hour. He’s gone through many stuffed animals human and doggy (with supervision of course).He is able to shred rope toys. He had a red Kong and cracked the rubber in half, and he cant fit his mouth on the stronger black kong. Anyone know of a great indestructable dog toy? He is crate trained and is in his crate for about 4 hours a day and I can’t leave him with any toys because I am too scared about what he will ingest well I am gone.
At least its not the furniture!

Im getting a new dog and i think that spending like $10 on a dog toy is ridiculous. I will be buying dog bones, without a doubt. But what are some playtime toys i can make?

i was recently in a dollar store and i saw this dog toy (rope for tug of war, and looks just like a real rope perch form the pet store) and i was wondering is the anyway i can modify that tug of war rope into a bird perch? I’m not sure how to attach the rope to the cage so the bird can go on it. (i can’t really put a screw in the rope because its made out of rope and the screw wouldn’t do anthing) So is there anything i can add(or something) to the rope to make it like the rope perches at a pet store?

my dog has one toy that he especially loves. he has a little duck that quacks and he carries it everywhere with him. and he needs it to sleep. the problem is, that he is a rough player so he destroys his toys. the other problem is that i have only ever found these toys at one shop 100 miles away from my home. so my question is, have u ever seen a toy like this at walmart or petsmart or petco. he is always depressed when his breaks and we cant throw it away unless he is out of the house. any help would be great

first i want to thank some of you for helping me out with my other air travel question… made me feel a bit better about my baby flying… i just read on the website that she is allowed to have one dog toy in her crate with her… she s too big so she ll be in cargo… she has major seperation anxiety (im not just naming a random disorder she really has it and to a major extent)… this scares me because i know she is just going to freal out and be so scared… of course if i didnt have to bring her i wouldnt… but im moving from CA to PA and theres no other way for us to get there… and i dont want to give her anytihng to calm down because i ve read many things saying it s dangerous during air travel. plus she has a heart mumur.. whats the worst that could happen? if she freaks out to the most whats the worse that will happen? our flight is 7 hours with one lay over. i mean once she sees me all the scare is going to go away and she ll be ok once again right? what toy will calm her?

do you have any ideas of a great dog toy for a small to medium dog (rat terrier 13lbs) ? i need something to keep him busy while i am at work (usually my husband is at home but hes alone for two hours until my husband arrives at home) or dropping my baby off to child care? (takes thirty minute). im looking for something durable, and fun for my dog. there are some toy which he hates like stuff animals that squeaks lol ( i dont know why) i know he loves balls but i mean something he can play with by himself he also has a kong so not including a ball or a kong

My dog loves stuffed toys with squeakers, but within the past 2-3 months (he’s 4 yrs. old), he’s been tearing apart his toys (the stuffed ones). We have a Kong (which he likes) and two rubber balls that are still standing, but he doesn’t like them as much as stuffed toys. Are there any strong toys out there with the feel of stuffed toys or ones with squeakers in them?

My dogs are big and they get bored easily. The tear apart any of their dog toys (especially the stuffed ones ). kongs are good, and jolly balls . im just lookin for more ideas for long lasting toys i could buy or better yet make myself to entertain them.

I know they exist - a store out of town has a dog toy in their logo and instead of just a squeaker, they have a little speaker in it. I’ve searched high and low and I can’t find any site that will make custom dog toys. Can someone please help?
By the way, the ENTIRE toy is the logo, not just a bear with a shirt with my logo on it. For example, if my logo is a sun cloud, then the entire plushie toy is the sun cloud…

My Jack Russell Terrier is a very enthusiastic chewer and I would like to find some dog toy that will take her at least a day or so to destroy. She tends to swallow a bit of the toy, so preferably something safe to eat.

I am looking for a dog toy that is as follows:

-rubber
-jack shaped
-with 4 sides
-on two sides of the jack part there are little “o”s and the other two sides have lines
