walmart and target is the best place to start

if you see something at petco or petsmart, look at walmart and do not forget walmart.com with the free shipping

look for goodies that are not at the stores at amazon.com, overstock.com .. any online store

some things are cheaper at petsmart.com than they are in pet stores in my area. also, sometimes a farm supply will have pet food for less.
i will buy chains and leashes from the dollar store but i spend the extra on brand name toys. some of my friends use old socks tied in knots for toys, but i dont want mine to start chewing good socks
you can prob pick up some metal mixing bowls for food dishes at a thrift store. my granddad even reuses pots and pans that are dented and missing handles for his dogs, and saucers and bowls that dont match for the cats food.
if you have old blankets and pillows that you dont use, you may be able to make a dog bed out of them.

It depends on which supplies. Bedding, toys, food bowls can be purchased from Walmart, grocery store, dollar store, for a reasonable price. Be sure to get what your vet recommends when you purchase food, flea/tick preventative, and other supplies that are necessary for a dog's health (these might need to be purchased somewhere like Petsmart or Petco).
Glad to see you are adopting from a shelter and good luck with your new dog!

Hi Carol. Dollar General has a lot of good pet products for great prices. So does the Dollar Tree. You might also want to sign up for your local freecycle mailing list. I have given away dog products on mine , so I am sure there would be some on yours , also. Enjoy your new pet!

Dog supplies are expensive no matter where you buy them. My GSD got a $25 toy for Christmas and tore it up in about 15 minutes. But he has had a $1 store toy since I brought him home from the breeder. Your pup will pick and choose what he may or may not destroy.

A quality food cost between $40 to $60 a bag depending on amount. Toys are toys. Petsmart, Petco,Walmart, Target, Kmart all sell toys. From $1 to $35 depending on toy.

Don't forget a good vet for your pup too. Most vet visits cost about $30 to $75 for appointments and $90 and up for emergency visits. This usually does not include any shots, medicines or care given.

Before you get that puppy make sure you are able to provide for it. You will have to make a trip to the vet every year just for shots. If you don't keep up on those you risk your dog getting very sick. Not to mention rabie vaccination, heart worm preventative in the summer months, food, and the list goes on and on. They are worth it, don't get me wrong. I have 2 dogs and a cat and I would do it again even knowing the costs. If you have a Tractor Supply or that type of store in your area they have great prices on pet supplys. People don't think about them because of it being more of a farm supply store, but dogs live on farms too.

thats great!
well, you can go to walmart, kroger, or some other grocery store, but their products are usually of low quality, i pretty much only got a food dish for my dog there.

and do not EVER get dog food from a grocery store. they are horrible for your pet and will cost you more money in vet bills in the future.

i suggest just going to petco or petsmart or some other pet supply store and do your shopping there.

the people there should help you pick out things you might need.

good luck on your puppy and thank you for saving a life!(:

Some people give away free dog supplies in the newspaper.
It's great to hear that you're saving a life, i hope things go well.
Good luck!
