Dog supplies/products?
28 Jul 2008
What is an item, or list of items that you as a dog owner can not live without? I’m not talking about the basics (food, bowls, treats, meds, etc.) I’m looking for specific names of products. And a brief description would be great too.
example.. A Kong. It’s a rubber toy that can be used for retrieving and is very popular because it is hollow and can be fill with a variety of food/treats to entertain your dog.
A link to a website featuring the item would make me very happy.
Shanna, I couldn’t agree more! I love the zoom groom. I even use it when bathing the dogs. They love the way it feels.
“ya know” … I think YOU need a toy!

,. If you know what you need, you can research brands here. Personally, brands aren’t that important as long as it fulfills the needs of your dog. Good Luck

My dog can absolutely not live without his stuffed Hippo. I get them at Petco. It’s a small hippo doll and he carries it around with him everywhere and even sleeps with it in his mouth!
Other items he can’t live without:
Nylabones
Cozy Sweater
His grass box that we have on our balcony for him to pee in when we are not home
His doggie door
Hugs and Kisses from me- and those are free!!!

Planet Dog products are awesome. Specifically, they have a rubber bone that has a hole through the middle (horizontally). It can be filled like a kong, and one of my dogs love it. Also, the Kong Wubba for puppies is a big hit with my dogs… my 5 month old plays with it by herself for hours.

Fooey (it keeps her from chewing on the couch and our shoes) Woollite Pet Carpet Spray (for her ‘accidents’) Bil-Jac treats (perfect size, she won’t fill up on them). She also has this toy we call her ‘baby’… it’s an alligator and in it’s front hands it holds a tennis ball and it’s tail is a rope so it’s great for tug of war or independent play. She loves that thing.

buster cube - great for feeding (my dog likes to work for her food). I usually feed a small amount of her kibble in her bowl and the rest goes in buster cube. she’s smart, so it doesn’t take long for her to empty it.
sens-ible sensation harness for walking - makes walks more manageable (still working on polite walking).
EDIT: and ‘ya know’ has it wrong - toys are ESSENTIAL.

Healthy Edibles- because they spend time chewing on something digestible.
Marrow Bone- at the supermarket in the meat isle (keep refrigerated)- hours of enjoyment plus the protein is excellent
Puppy Treads- a rubber tire - something different and exciting for them to play with and hard to tear apart.
IF They are REALLY hyper… A treadmill. Tires them out while you fold laundry!! Hope this helps

Oh, Geesh. Get me started why dontcha?
First and foremost: Flying Squirrel. My dog hasn’t figured out picking up a regular frisbee.
Flower essences: They help me keep him non-reactive in stressful situations.–Aggressive-Flower-Essences/137013.aspx–Breaking-Habits-Flower-Essences/137017.aspx
Bumble Balls: Mack’s favorite toys, he’ll sit and pull the string to make it vibrate.

I absolutely cannot live without my Zoom Groom. It is made by Kong and it is the best brush I have found for short haired dogs. It’s amazing, it gets rid of all the extra hair and the dogs actually like it! They’ll stand there and let me brush them for as long as I want to.
Added: I use it when I bathe my dogs too! I am amazed at how much hair it gets off of them! I have noticed since I’ve started using it that I sweep up half the hair on the floor! Everyone needs one, or two!

My puppy is miserable without her Wiggly Giggly. She has invented a variety of games to play with it, all by herself, including talking to it by imitating the noises it makes, and carrying a random soft toy around in her mouth while she bats the Wiggly with her paws. I got mine at PetSmart. If you haven’t seen these, here’s a link:

Well…I defiantly can’t live without a slicker brush, toe nail clippers and grinder and a clipper to trim my cocker. Then, my girls can’t live without a leash….I like the flexi leads for walking and jogging and toys, toys, toys, so they continue to have fun. I also buy rawhides so when we are all chillin in front of the tv (or computer) they have something to keep them busy. And, of course, I couldn’t live without Nature’s Miracle to clean up accidents from my little “stinker” Hannah who still thinks going potty outside is only when she’s not busy chasing squirrels!
