Dog kennels advice?

I Have bought my dog an outdoor kennel for the summer and was wondering if there are any special bowls and accesories to put in it as i am worried about the water getting warm whilst i am not in the house and my dog overheating?

Just get a heavy ceramic bowl, and ask your local chemist for a block of sulphur to put in his water. This keeps the water fresh, Keep the bowl in the shade and it will be fine.

if u build something so his bowls have a little shade and then get a really good insulated dog bowl your dogs water should be fine. warmer water wont hurt your dog it will still keep him hydrated

Why is your poor doggy stuck outside all day? Can’t he stay inside? If he must remain outside they you can get him a refrigerated water dispenser. It recycles the water so it stays fresh and cool.

Keep your dog food/water containers in the shade. Give fresh water to your dog 2x or more a day…they drink more than you think!
Don’t worry about your dog overheating outside. As long as you give it shade throughout the day and fresh water, it’ll be fine.

I’m going to assume it is a large “run” type kennel and not a “crate” type kennel? Keep in mind that shade is an important element in keeping a dog cool. But DO NOT use the blue plastic/vinyl tarps! They trap heat underneath and the dog can actually be hotter than if there was no shade! I’ve had friends who used the blue tarps and had dogs die from the excessive heat build up. Heat cannot dissipate with the blue tarps. So be sure your shade cloth is porous and will allow air to outflow from below. As to water, just get something large. I use horse water buckets that hold a few gallons. Even warm water is better than no water.

There are all types of accessories available; however, to insure that your dogs water stays cool, keep it it the shade at all times. Dogs, aren’t like people, they can drink water somewhat warmer than us, however, to please yourself change the water in the morning and in the evening. You could also put a time release valve on your water spicket or hose to come on ever so often to freshen and cool the dogs water. They aren’t real expensive and can be purchased at any hardware type store.

Please make absolutely certain that the kennel and run are situated where there are bushes and/or trees for your dog to get away from the heat as the sun moves during the day, there needs to be shade all around, get one of those water dispensers that run off a hose pipe, that way your dog has constant fresh cool water, get one of those rigid children’s paddling pools/sand pits, and put water in there as well, your dog will be able to get into it and cool off. I personally wouldn’t leave my dogs outside all day, I would be too worried, not only about the heat issue but also about dog nappers! I don’t know where you live, but in the UK this may be considered not suitable accommodation + you shouldn’t be leaving a dog for more than the recommended 4 hours.
