I guess there needs to be someone there to care for the dogs that are already there =S You’ll need to contact them directly to book in advance though I bet alot of people will be doing the same.
If not why not get a dog sitter in your home? Pay someone from your friends that you trust, I did it once, one dog, chickens and the house was safe in my hands and I enjoyed the peace.
I used to work in a kennels all over the Christmas and new year period, we where Always busy too, sad fact that lots of people put there dogs in, not because they where going away like your are, but simply to get the dogs out of the way so they could have more room and more fun without the “bloody dogs” being in the way.
Used to annoy me.
Yeah, the ones in Australia (that I’ve worked at) are open on during the christmas period… but they aren’t open on christmas day, new years eve, and special public holidays like that, however the workers still come into do work. I would book in mid July, maybe even in May to make sure that you get a booking, because they can go quickly.
Not sure about kennels, but i am a host family. I am part of a UK company called Barking Mad where you dogs can stay with another family instead of kennels. The dog keeps it’s routine and has the comforts of a loving family.
It is a few pounds a day more expensive, but for the dogs it is definately worth it.
I have already organised having a little fella coming to stay with me over xmas this year, so most of the host families are available at that time of year, as long as you book in advance.
PS, I spoil all the dogs that come to my house, so you can be guaranteed your dogs will be loved. Next week, we’re off to the beach with a nice lab we have staying with us!
