Kennels are okay, but all dogs, no matter if they’re from breeders or rescue organizations, should have space to run and exercise in.
Maybe people are thinking that if a dog has been rescued, it may have been neglected and therefore needs addtional human interaction rather than being kept in a kennel all the time.
Okay there is nothing wrong with properly constructed kennels for either dog if they are let out in open area to run and walked. Many breeders keep their dogs in kennels they can’t keep that many dogs in the home at once. Good breeders have a yard for them to be in the one I got my puppy from has a lot of land and even an agility course set up but only some of her dogs stay in the house. On the other hand the kennels are more like little houses with a roof and a floor with the fencing to separate them and then they have a flap they can go through to the outdoor area of the kennel.
kennels can be cruel but they don’t have to be but they are probably not cheap to construct a good kennel
REPUTABLE breeders know WTF they’re DOING….shelter people DON’T!
They’d rather keep an animal until it dies than place it in a less-than-perfect home.
Would rather kill it than let it go to a (CORRECT & KNOWLEDGABLE)hunting home, for instance.
REPUTABLE breeders have PROPER sized, maintained, cleaned & SAFE kenneling.
Do *NOT* have uneducated volunteers *&* do *NOT* have pest & disease ridden animals coming & going daily.
Do NOT over-load their capacity.
DO properly groom & train & vet their stock.
Do NOT “warehouse” their animals.
Dogs are pack animals. It’s unnatural for them to be alone.
Dogs are socially-dependent. That means their brains are hardwired to need social interaction. It makes them feel safe and secure to have physical contact with their pack members.
Isolating a dog is not really different than trying to keep a pet fish out of water. Even if you could devise a way to do it, it’s unnatural, and probably harming the creature.
If psychologically harming a dog isn’t bad enough, isolation often leads to many undesirable behaviors, not the least of which is aggression. Just as a child kept isolated from other people will not develop proper social skills (and may even grow to view others as some kind of threat), the same goes for dogs. Socialization teaches them that their world is safe, and that most other people and animals are not a danger to them in any way. In fact, most people and other dogs are potential playmates. Socialization allows dogs to learn which behaviors are acceptable, and which aren’t.
Keeping dogs isolated and away from physical contact with their pack members is wrong. It’s unnatural. It’s needlessly cruel.
Sure, temporarily housing dogs in separate cages so they don’t harm other dogs or spread disease, is one thing. The emphasis is on the word “temporary.” Forcing a dog to live isolated most or all the time is sick. It’s no way for such a socially-dependent creature to live.
Most rescues aim to only keep their dogs in kennels temporarily until they find a new home. Breeders however choose to keep their dogs in kennels which to me is so much worse. In answer to your question it is cruel to keep any dog in kennels long-term, Breeder or Rescue.
I think it’s terrible that breeders keep their dogs in kennels, what a life for the poor dogs. At least they get a chance of finding homes once the breeder is finished with them.
all dogs deserve to be in good homes no dog should have to spend its life in a kennel environment it is not alright for breeders to keep dogs kennelled I would not buy from a breeder who kept dogs in kennels dogs should be reared in the home, it is important for their socialisation, rescue dogs on the other hand have to be kept somewhere until they find people to take them into home environments, it would be nice to have more foster families for rescue dogs so they could live as dogs should as part of a family, some dogs however have been so abused they can never live in a family environment one good dog rescue centre is the dogs trust who never put a healthy dog down, they do a really good job taking care of dogs if only they could take care of every unwanted dog.
It can’t do a dog any good to be kept in kennels for a long period but sometimes it can’t be helped (rescue centres) better then putting them to slepp.

People might think this because rescue dogs are always on the go and breeders don’t take them out to much.

I think that it is cruel in a way because the dogs do not have the same care as when they are with a relative or neighbour.
