dog insurance

My dogs are just over 8 year old and im looking for some cover,
I ideally want a policy that will pay out for the life of my dogs, if they become ill.
I know a lot of insurance companys like Pet Plan for example wont touch a dog over 8 years of age, The Marks and Spenser pet insurance looks pretty good, any feed back much appreciated :)

If you go onto compare-pet-insurance.com where you can check companies against each other. i found a massive difference in prices and found Argos the cheapest . Hopes this help.

None of them, from what I can see pet insurance is pretty close to legalised fraud. If you read the fine detail of most pet insurance policies, you will find that they really are not good value. What I personally do is put five hundred pounds each year into a high interest immediate access savings account, (an amount comparable to the annual insurance premium for two dogs). This money is specifically put aside for emergency veterinary care, not for the routine, regular checkups, jabs, worming etc that pet insurance doesn’t cover anyway.

I have two German Shepherds, both about 1 year old, I expect them to live for another 11 or 12 years, that’s going to give me a nice little return (assuming the dogs don’t get really sick or badly injured). The money is better in my bank account rather than profit for insurance company shareholders.

I agree with Rainbow. As long as you are putting a sensible amount away regularly, you will hopefully have enough to cover any emergency.
If you do go into pet insurance, make sure you read the small print as there are lots of conditions they will not pay up for.

Sainsbury’s, they even pay out if you have to cancel a holiday due to your pet’s illness and they pay for the life of your pet
