dog insurance

I am getting a puppy soon and I am investing a lot of time, love and money into him so of course if he gets sick or hurt I want to be able to afford care for him!

I had two dogs that both had to be put down because they both got seriousely hurt and to fix them would cost way too much, and then they would never be completely healed anyway.

I really don’t want to pay more than $15 a month for coverage, but where can I find coverage?

I believe both the AKC and the CKC have pet insurance that they recommend.

There are several insurances out there, do a search on google and compare prices. Just a note on the insurance though
    1) they don’t cover everything, most will not cover routine vaccinations etc unless you purchase a separate plan
    2) a lot of insurances will not cover genetic / hereditary diseases so read they coverage before you buy
    3) most will still have a deductible, although it most cases it is reasonable around $50/incident

Most of the ones I have seen (PetPlan, VPI), charge a little more than that a month. The ones that dont probably wont cover as much for an incident, and you could still run into what you explained with your other dogs. I pay around $30 a month for VPI, and they cover a lot.

I was one of the 1st people to get dog insurance (VPI Insurance) over 10 years ago for my maltese. It started way back then at $12/month and I was paying $35.00/month when he died. It did pay for itself though through all the problems, shots, checkups, etc…that he had. I just got a Morkie and I bought the plan from Petco, costs over $300.00 for a full year and covers alot of stuff but not everything! It does help though. check out the VPI, they were great back then.
