I’m starting a dog walking service in my city and i was told that i should have some type of insurance in case something happens to me or the dog or if the dog bites someone during the walk. I was also told that i should be bonded as well. What does all this mean and how much does this cost. Please help me with any additional things i might have to do to get my business up and running. Thank You

I hope you get some good advice as I am wanting to do the same thing but it is the question of bonding and insurance that troubles me.

You need liability insurance. Rates are different for different amounts of coverage. I would suggest at least $100,000. Being bonded, basically means that someone has checked your criminal record and covers you for your behavior. Bonding is probably not neccessary.

You need to call any local insurance provider and tell them what you are looking for. They can tell you how to get bonded too. Rates may vary so shop around. Some insurance companies may not mess with insurance on dogs because of bite statistics and costs of bite surgery. This is the only way to go because of varying state laws. Good luck.
