dog grooming salon?

what’s the different between petsmart, petco grooming and a small salon pets grooming?
I always take my dogs to petsmart but it’s about 10miles from my house, now down the street by my house there is a pet salon and I want to got so its close by but I’m not sure they’re good.
What do you think? where are you usually take your dog….
Please, all dogs lover out there, give me a good tips. Where is the best place to have my dogs (4 dogs) groom, and why?

I’d linger around the shop outside perhaps, and ask the patrons how they like them. Petco, petsmart are usually less expensive, but you get what you pay for. i won’t knock all of them, because I do know of a few good ones. But really if they are good its worth paying more, especially if your dog likes them. If your dogs, are fearful of the places then something is really wrong with the way they are being treated. I have two poodles I groom myself. But have a couple places I have picked out just in case I need a break.

I use the groomer at my Vets office, but I would prefer a salon over a chain store!

I do not have a petsmart or petco here. A friend of mine started grooming dogs in her home. That is where I take mine.
Ask around and get opinions from other persons.
Sorry I couldn’t help you.

In my personal experience, people who own their own shops do the best job because they have the most invested and the most to lose. If you have four dogs, they may offer you a discount, especially if you can bring them in on a slow day. They often (but not always) have the most experience. (NOTE: this is NOT a knock on Sears - just an example!) Like if you go to Sears for home improvement, you get a subcontractor who has enough time on his hands to work for Sears. The best contractors I know are so busy doing jobs on personal recommendations that they would NEVER have time enough to work for a major chain store.
