dog grooming ?

I have what is supposed to be a bichon/shitzu mix. He is 6 months old now and his coat is a very fine and pretty thin. when he is wet it becomes so transparent he looks bald. I have seen others of this mix and they have a thick beautiful coat, his looks pretty fluffly but nothing like it should. It mates very easily I must brush him daily. It seems to have stopped growing and I am afraid it is to fine to cut short. I am adraid he will look bald. Anyone have any suggestions. Does anyone else have this mix with such a shortage of hair?

i had this problem with my dog. i changed her food. use a dog food with lamb meal and rice. i use natures choice. i believe iams sells it. it’s expensive but it works within 4 weeks.

my parents have a jack russel/terrior mix that had the same thing of very fine and thin hair.
they took her in for a hair cut for the summer and her fur grew back thicker each time they had it cut.
