I think there is a City & Guilds course available to show that you have some sort of official qualification, but it would also probably be useful to have some on the job training by volunterring to help or even being employed as a helping hand/ apprentice in a grooming salon.
Add: Just done a bit of ‘googling’ and found the city and guilds site: Here’s the link and good luck in your new career.
Just noticed your add- I understand that people may not be keen to take you on but they may be more willing if they know that youar enrolled on the city and guilds course. It will reflect well on their business if , when you qualify, they have certificates to put up on the wall to show that they have fully trained groomers working there rather than regular joe bloggs of the street who is just copying the techniques off the owner of the salon.
