I see him nibble on himself, as if to scratch or deflea, even though he doesn’t have any fleas. Then he will walk up to my leg and start nibbling on my clothes. It is the wierdest thing. Maybe it’s a nervous disorder, or something showing love, I don’t know. Maybe it’s just a dog thing. Please help it’s driving me crazy.

It could be a few things. He may want your attention, or he may be teething. Try to distract him with an alternative toy.

You want to discourage this behavior while its still a puppy. There are many methods to do this - one I have used is to teach the word “switch”. When the pup begins to nibble on you, get a really great treat (chicken or cheese) or toy the pup cannot resist and get its attention with it. Say “switch” and when it turns its attention to the new toy say “good dog” in a really high happy voice. You can continue this and make it into a game by ’switching’ from toy to toy until the pup is no longer interested in nibbling on boring old you

lol this is quite normal my puppy does this when im walking he get a hold of my pants and bites them. I give him a lil tug to stop him. They also had this spray you can get at pet smart called grannicks bitter apple spray my puppy hates it all i have to do is spay it he knows. I would definatly discourage him from doing that now though.Good luck!

It is a grooming behavior. I have had many MinPins and own 5 now but only 1 does it. When he gets happy he nibbles on me. He does it to other dogs as well but more me than them. It is just he particular way of saying I love my Mom. He happens to be a type A dog and at 13 yrs old is still running around like a maniac outside so I don’t know if his hyperness is part of it. He justs gets so excited he expresses himself by grooming me. He wiggles so much he looks like he will explode. He also happy nibbled my pillows edges and the labels..lol..I used to hold a nice pillow label for him to nibble. It makes him happy so what the heck.

my dog is like that at the moment u never mention how old he is mine is 5 months maybe yours is teething like mine just give him a good hard chewy toy that should occupy him for a while.

My friend down in FL has a dog like that and she only nips your clothes when she wants to go outside for her walk. Then sometimes she nips my skin she doesn’t mean to but she does it.
