Can you put dog clothes on cats?

dog clothes

They don’t make cat clothes like sweaters and stuff so can you buy a dog one that will fit your cat and put it on the cat?

A few years ago, I bought one for my cat and put it on her, but she just layed on the floor and refused to move until I took it off. I think it was too tight though.

    Lol.
I don’t believe I’ve ever seen someone dress up a cat, that’s probably why they don’t sell cat clothes.

They probably don’t like it. That’s the best I can come up with.

DONT DO IT!!!! Its bad enough they put clothes on dogs. But unfortunatly yes they do to make little costumes and nasty clothes for cats. But don’t do it. They have a special type of fur that keeps them warm and if you don’t like the color of its fur then get rid of the cat or live with it. Its not nice for the cat and they don’t like it one bit. the cats think it is a punishment!!!

Well cats are much too independent to wear clothing that you the human has decided to put on them. They are either going to just lay there and look at you like you are crazy or they are going to freak and run through the house. Cats are not here to impress you, you are here to impress them. So save the clothes for your dogs, and don’t make your cat miserable by putting clothes of him.

Yeah you can put dog clothes on a cat. Maybe your cat was not use to the clothes and she just wanted you to take it off before she thinks she’ll get hurt or it itched her.

    Aw the poor little kitty!

Imagine how embarrassed it would be for other cats to see it dressed that way ;-))

When I was a kid, I used to dress up my mom’s cat in doll clothes.

I don’t think they like it very much, so I wouln’t suggest it, but I really see no immediate harm in it as long as the “clothes” aren’t too tight or restricting. Like I said, though, they don’t like it, and I personally wouldn’t do it.

They make them, but not in sizes I’ve found convienent. Plus cats have the abilty to undress them selves, being more flexible than dogs. I got a little sweater for my 4.5 lb cat last winter, because she always seems cold, and she wore it for hours without signs of distress, then I left to go out to dinner, and came back, and she had already taken it off, and lost it so well, I still haven’t found it!

Sometimes you can find costumes and clothes for cats. It’s cute for special occasions, but for cats it’s really just torture for them to be stuck in them all the time. They should fit the same. With a cat you should NOT leave it unattended in the clothes because they could strangle themselves trying to get it off. If it’s Halloween or the cats birthday and you want to put something cute on it for a few pictures, that’s fine. Otherwise cat’s are not meant to wear clothes.

I used to dress up my cats when I was little. That’s probably why they were psycho. You would think it would make them feel claustrophobic, that may be why they don’t move.

Cats will not wear it… My dog even tries to get out of wearing them in the winter. He stands still and won’t move. Plus, a cat is used to being free in a sort of way and don’t like the constriction of the sweater/T-shirt…

Yes you can put dog clothes on a cat, but why would you? Cats are very different from dogs pschycologically. Dogs live to please and cats live to BE pleased. Enjoy the unique qualities of your special companion

Prince Charming has a bandana and Cinderella has a sequin collar with a glitter flower…both are made for small dogs. I got the outfits from Walmart are they look fabulous!!! But remember you cannot put sweaters on cats like you do dogs bc unlike dogs cats bathe themselves so they will be very irriated and it fashionable doesn’t look good like as cute as dogs either. So just buy the cute fancy collars and costumes BUT remember if you let them outside that they have their regular cat collars with id tags under the costumes just in case they get loose. Happy shopping!

as long as you are willing to risk scratches, go for it. Make sure it is not to snug.

There’s a reason they don’t make clothes for cats. They hate it! (or MOST of them, anyway) Lol. If you’ve ever put a little shirt on a cat usually the just plop over and refuse to move, flailing their tail around, with a very annoyed look on their face.
