I’m biased…I love Miniature Schnauzers. They’re very smart, don’t shed, and are great with kids and other animals. We use to raise German Shepards and I thought that I would never have any other breed…then I adopted a Schnauzer. We’ve had three since then and love them like they’re our children. The photo below is Dickens, he died last year, but will always be in our hearts.
I you are one of the three people that gave me a thumbs down you can kiss my @ss

Good old fashioned Mutt. Plenty at the shelter, and you’d be saving a life.

Good luck with this new adventure. no matter what type of dog you will get, you will need to train it well! I am fond of grey hounds (rescue) becuase they are fairly well trained as it is, mild mannered (not over hyper!) and love a place to run - it just needs to be fenced in. Try getting a golden retrever or lab too.
best of luck!

Golden Retreivers are big but get along great with other dogs, kids and all people. When they are puppies (as with all puppies), they can be wild but as they get older they are very good with being on their own. Very smart breed. Easy to train. Need frequent exercise to keep weight down..sounds perfect for you. Good luck with whatever breed you choose!

Brittany (a.k.a., Brittany Spaniel). GREAT dog! Ours has LOTs of energy even after 8 years, short hair so not too bad shedding, VERY smart and train-able. Listens very well, even to our kids. Not too big (won’t knock over toddlers) but not a toy: avg 30-35 lbs. LOVES people.

Labrador retrievers definitely.
They are considered America’s favorite dog and a family dog.
Good luck!

it depends on what type of dog you have mine is a toy poodle he is still a puppy though i am 13 yrs. old i have had 6 or 7 dogs that i’ve had to get rid of all in my life and it hurt every time so treat your dog right they definetly need to be walked breeding though i’ve never had it happen before all i know is that you definetly need to be walked you might not want to get a poodle at a young age they are WILD!!!

jack russell terrors are very good with kids. have you ever seen the tv show fraiser? eddie the dog is a jack russell terror. go to the pound / animal shelter. you probably can find a mixed breed that is just as good with kids. they will let you spend some time with the dog before you take it home. besides some full bread dogs have issues that go along with the breed. do an online search. just type in the breed of a dog, and learn about it.

i have two labs and they get along great with kids. also, their goal in life is to please so they always make you happy (ecept when they are puppies and haven’t been potty trained) but ya so they would make a great pet.
Also, golden reitrievers are almost exactly the same!

Labrador Retreivers, Boxers, Golden Retreivers, Gordon Setter, or Maybe a Clumber Spaniel.

My advice is, get a mixed breed. Any dog can be trained and brought up in an environment where they can adapt. Mixed breeds are generally healthier, they stay hyper even though they are old, and much more.
I hope you find the perfect dog!

Definately Golden Retriever or Saint Bernard!

Personally I like the larger breeds. If you don’t mind shedding, a Golden Retriever or Lab would be nice, they’re great with kids. Also I own a Springer Spaniel mix. Springers are great dogs who love the water (most do) and they’re quite affectionate. Mine is a soon to be certified therapy dog. If it’s your first dog, I suggest you get a mixed breed… they’re the best! Save a life of an innocent puppy from a local rescue shelter. Puppies are often best when getting from a rescue (not to bias against older dogs…) but the older ones can sometimes be abused..
