I am looking for a small dog breed that I can hold in one arm comfortably and can still hold a tennis ball in their mouth. I can hold a dog larger that 25 lbs in one arm, I do not want to go any larger than that. I have been researching Toy Fox Terriers, (Toy) Manchester Terriers, Miniature Schnauzers, and other small dog breeds.

Does it have to be a regular sized tennis ball? They make small tennis balls that small dogs can fit in their mouths.
Here’s an example:
I saw a dachshund put a regular sized tennis ball in his mouth yesterday though.

My fiance’s grandma’s chiwahahhahahaha (Bah, I cant spell it, so I gave up half through.) can easily put it in his mouth. My 8 week old pit’s been doing it since he was 5 1/2 weeks. [And he's smalll now, tiny at 5 weeks.]

Well, I’m partial to pugs. I’m pretty sure they can hold a tennis ball… maybe something just a tad bit smaller. Pugs are the funniest dogs in the world! They are travel size (ours is 17 lbs), but they can get up to 35 lbs. Don’t let them get overweight, though, because they won’t live as long. I’m weird.. but I carry him around the house. They waddle up and down the stairs and love to take naps. WARNING they are very hyper puppies. They will be hyper up to 3 years, but mine is almost 2 and he’s very calm. They require play time (which is no problem with me! I love to play.) The puppies are SO CUTE, and ours caught on potty training in 3-4 weeks of having him home. I love that he’s small.
Pugs are considered toy breed because of their height I think.
Please look into getting a pug. Look at pictures first! They’re SO FUNNY!
OH .. and the greatest thing about the, is that they’re not yappy dogs! They bark when someone rings the doorbell, but as soon as they smell the new person, the stop barking and lick them to death.

I know miniature dachshunds ( 10 - 12 pounds ) can hold a tennis ball in there mouths, chase them, & bring them back 2 U. Fun!

I would suggest Jack Russel terriers, my dog is a Jack Russel and he is VERY intelligent. He knows all kinds of tricks, he knows what ur saying on most simple phrases, and yes, he catches tennis balls, he also fetches them, he can hold a normal size tennis ball in his mouth no problem, and we weighed him maybe a week ago and hes only 11 lbs. the only drawback to this breed is that they destroy every toy you give them! They’re very good hunting dogs, but if u give it a stuffed toy, itll be a skin by time it gets done playin with it. Ive tried training mine to just chew them, but he HAS to demolish every toy we give him. We even carried him to petsmart and requested the toughest more durable toy they had, we brought it home (it was 10 dollars) and he destroyed it in literally about 5 minutes. So, they love to “kill” toys, but that also makes them very good at squirrel hunting and all that. He has an entire box full of tennis balls btw, but he even tears into them! he has some that are half missing because he literally shreds every thing he finds. But because hes so smart, he knows to only destroy his toys, nothing else. I would highly recommend a Jack russell, their cute, smart, small, and fun to have. Easy to handle, easy to train (when puppies, not as adults), and very loving protective dogs. Plus, I say again, he is a tennis ball fanatic and will carry the ball EVERYWHERE with him. He loves his toys!

You should get a Boston terrier. Females are only about 14 pounds and they love to play. We had one that could find a tennis ball anywhere. She would go in my brother’s car (who played tennis) and find balls that had rolled under the seat and when we moved to a new house she immediately ran into the back yard and found one. They do have strong jaws and she would usually tear the ball in two within a couple of weeks.
