You go to the pet store and you fall madly in love with that large wrinkly face and the very next thing you know, you’re the proud owner of a new Pug puppy dog.  Something you have to know, especially in those early days, is that the moment you bring that puppy home, you are training them in the right way to act in the future.  With pug training, it is crucial to be disciplined from the very start of your days as a Pug owner.

When you look at how much a kid learns in the initial few years of their life, it far outweighs the quantity of things they learn in the second years.  A pug puppy is the same way, the first few months of their life are like the first few years of a child’s life and anything they learn now is going to be inserted in their mind as something they are allowed to do.

If your Pug puppy jumps up on the coach, will you discipline him and let him know to get down or are you going to pet his lovable little head and tell him how lovable he is.  Now consider what occurs when he is a full grown dog and he does that, you are possibly going to be upset and scream at him.  Well don’t yell at the dog, go find a mirror and scream at yourself because you are the one that promoted that behavior when he was a puppy dog.

We frequently find humor in the things that both children and dogs do when they are puppies and babies and then we are getting upset when they are doing the same stuff 1 or 2 years later.  It is not their fault, you allowed this behavior and now you’re going to have to deal with it.  Knowing when to correct behavior is an important part of pug training

When your Pug puppy dog grabs your shoes and starts gnawing on them, ask one little question, am I going to find that funny in 7 years when he’s still doing it?  If you’re like most of the people, the solution to that question is going to be a sound NO so address it now and you will not have to stress about it in the future because the dog will know that it is not permissible.

It is a little tough to train your Pug pup from the first day, but you’ve got to resist the pitfalls of falling for that captivating face.  They are animals and they have to be trained.  The will only do what you allow them to do or get away with so take care you get the correct behavior instilled from the first day and you’ll have a great pet!
