There are plenty of tricks and lessons you could teach your pet during beagle puppy training. A pair of the most crucial are lessons on housebreaking and puppy obedience training. These two are probably not as fancy as tricks such as shake, crawl or twirl but they are absolutely required if you want to keep you pet secure as well as make your life as dog owner easy.

The down, along with sit, stay and come is a part of obedience. The mentioned command must be taught as soon as possible for it is one of the most valuable lessons a young puppy can learn. A dog that lies down upon command isn’t just an indication of an obedient and respectful dog but is also an assurance that the pet is less likely to meet accidents and trouble in various circumstances. A hyperactive young puppy about to leap to a little girl or getting ready to run after the neighbor’s cat could be handled using the command. Issuing the down command may also keep him from running towards the road where he is more likely to get hit by speeding cars.

Teaching a dog this command isn’t extremely hard. But the real problem starts when your dearest beagle only obeys the command in a certain area such as your living room. If that’s the case, how can this command benefit him? In order for this command to be truly useful at the same time ascertains you that your dog is safe wherever he is, he must learn to obey the command whether it is in the yard, park, field and other areas you go to.

During dog training, it helps if you differ your training area every once in awhile. Like if you are training your dog in the living room today, the next time you train him the down command should be in other parts of the house apart from your living room. This prevents him from associating the command with a specific place – train him in the kitchen , porch, garden and then later on at the nearby park, field and other places you frequent.

When you go out for training, remember to bring his favorite treat to reward him for a very good job.
