Be sure to keep him occupied. Keep the cage filled together with a few chew toys that you simply already know he won’t choke on unsupervised. Really hard nylon bones work well. Move the cage so that he doesn’t feel alone. Another tactic to prevent cage barking is to move your dog into the middle of the action. Unless he is used to his cage within the cozy bedroom, move it into the center of the family room or where individuals are so he doesn’t feel lonely.

Teach him the cage is simply not permanent. Before you leave your dog inside the cage for a lengthy period, begin with 5- or 10-minute intervals. Place him within the cage plus leave him alone. Don’t give in to his whines plus cries, but be sure he stays the entire time. Continue increasing the length of the time, plus even leave the house, as if you were leaving for work. Show him you’ll return soon.

If you go running to his cage each time he barks, your dog is going to associate barking with you coming back to “save” him. Cover it up. If all else fails, you may desire to throw a sheet or blanket over the cage in a type of “lights out, be quiet” gesture. This method works wonders on birds, plus often works for dogs. Just don’t make it too heavy a cloth so he ends up within a caged steam bath. Air must be able to get inside of the cage.
