Beagle Training for Puppies
08 Jun 2010
New Beagle owners are sometimes unprepared for how much they howl and yelp. Luckily, a lot of information is available about how to stop a dog whining. For people with Beagle puppies, they may also want to know about Beagle potty training and puppy feeding. Inviting a Beagle, (or any dog), into your home is a big decision and not one that should be made lightly. Give your puppy some time and space to adjust to you, your family, your home, and any other pets you may have. With Beagle training, it’s important to keep a sense of humor, (or to find one if you’ve lost yours somewhere along the way).
Puppy Feeding Tips
When feeding a puppy, keep in mind that it is still growing and developing. Also:
• Any changes to your puppy’s diet should be made slowly. If at all possible, use the same kind of food it was eating at the breeder or pet store and then slowly mix it in with whatever food you decide to give it. This will help your puppy’s little belly make the adjustment better.
• Puppies do not need fresh milk once they are weaned off their mother’s milk. Giving them cow or goat milk can actually be very difficult for them to digest properly, so it’s better to not give it to them at all.
• Water is essential not only for your dog’s digestive process, but for their overall health as well. Make sure they have fresh water available to drink.

Other Beagle Training Tips
Training a Beagle is sometimes a lot trickier than training other breeds. Because their breed has been taught to hunt for generations, they can sometimes have a one-track mind. Beagles often get sidetracked from obedience training if they smell something and want to go chase it. Clicker training may not work for Beagle training, but food and other positive rewards often do. Dog training to stop whining can help with adult or puppy Beagles who whine or howl frequently.
