There are many reasons for dogs to bark, many of them we encourage, strangers coming to the house, different sounds through the night and danger that we can’t sense. These forms of barking can be usefull and one of the reasons many of us have dogs. But when your dog is barking all the time and for no real reason it soon becomes a barking problem, and can soon get out of hand.
Dogs can bark through boredom and fear, this is a problem that can be addressed.
Barking because of boredom can be solved by not leaving him locked up in the in the house for long periods of time with nothing to keep him occupied. leaving toys that will last him all day will help to stop boredom kicking in, rawhide bones are good and will keep him entertained for hours. Food balls are awesome and makes the dog work for it, this will also help to wear him out and keep him more chilled and relaxed.
Barking through fear or anxiety is more serious and needs a different approach, there can be many causes for this and you will need to find out what it is that your dog doesn’t like before you can help your dog get over his problem
Fear can also lead to aggressive barking like when your dog barks at your neighbours through the fence, this can cause friction between you and your neighbours and left unchecked will only get worse. There are collars you can get to help and an aggressive dog training program will help cure the problem and prevent it from getting any worse.
