stop puppy barking.

All dogs bark, it’s their way to communicate a message.
A dog barks for various reasons: to greet, to alert, because they are bored, to get attention or when they are excited.
Although some form of barking is acceptable, too much barking is certainly annoying, particularly for your neighbors and it will eventually lead to complaints. The easiest way to stop dog barking is to control its barking while you are at home.
There are different ways to prevent your dog from continuing barking. Set up a situation in which your dog will always bark. For instance, you can ask someone to ring your doorbell or knock on your door.
When your dog charges to the door and starts to bark loudly, get closer to your dog, grab its collar and give the command “quiet” – without shouting please, it never helps.
When your dog stops barking, praise it and offer him/her some reward. She/He’s great and deserves it.
When he/she continues barking, close his/her mouth with your hand, wrap your fingers around his/her muzzle – use both hands if needed, and give the command for it to keep quiet. You should praise him/her when it stops.
Most dogs should be able to learn the “quiet” command with repeated training like this. Set up similar situations to “lure” your dog to bark and repeat training every time it is possible.
If by chance you have a really persistent barker, use this method:
A solution of vinegar and water – mix a proportion of 7/8 water & 1/8 vinegar together. Pour the mixture into a water pistol or what children call “super soaker” for longer distance shooting.
Aim and shoot at his chest whenever he/she doesn’t stop barking even on your command.Dogs hate the smell of vinegar and will usually back off and stop barking. You may expect him/her to sneeze a few times. It won’t do him/her any harm, so you need not worry.
As usual, praise it when he/she stops barking.
It’s important to know that your dog might still be barking noisily and disrupting your neighborhood when you are not at home. In this case, you’ll need some training equipment known as “bark collars” to help train him/her.
There are several different kinds of bark collars in pet shops.
Some of these collars send an electric shock to your dog when he/she barks, some make a high pitch sound or emit a squirt of citronella, which is annoying but safe for your dog.
In most cases, these collars can help to stop your puppy barking..
In my case I always recommend the citronella or the high pitch sound collars. They are still very effective and more humane dog training tools.
