THE MOST INTELLIGENT POODLE.

The Poodle is often acknowledged to be the most wisely intelligent of all members of the canine race. There’s a general belief that he’s a fop, whose time is essentially occupied in personal embellishment, which he requires a nice deal of individual attention within the matter of his toilet. It could be true that to keep him in exhibition order and good cleanliness his owner has would like to devote more consideration to him than is necessary in the case of many breeds; but in different respects he offers very little trouble, and every one who are hooked up to him are consistent in their opinion that there is no dog therefore intensely interesting and responsive as a companion. His qualities of mind and his acute powers of reasoning are indeed thus nice that there is one thing nearly human in his attractiveness and his devotion. His aptitude in learning is never denied, and many are the stories told of his marvellous talent and versatility.

Foxhounds were the very first of the canine races in Nice Britain  to come back below the domination of scientific breeding. There had been  hounds of more ancient origin, like the Southern  Hound and therefore the Bloodhound; but one thing completely different was wished towards the end of the seventeenth century to hunt the wild deer that had become somewhat scattered after Cromwell’s civil war. The demand was consequently for a quicker hound than those hitherto known, and individuals dedicated to the chase began to breed it.
